Joe Sestak, in remarks reported by the Christian Science Monitor, answered, “We’re doing it for the polls,” when asked about President Obama’s latest round of proposed multi-billion dollar stimulus.

Pat Toomey is out with two positive television spots this week. Leading in the polls by 6 or 10 points, depending on the poll, Toomey is looking to gain momentum over Joe Sestak.

The Rothenberg Political Report now has two key Pennsylvania races in the “Tilt Republican” category. Kathy Dahlkemper, endangered blue dog Democrat in the northwestern 3rd district, and crusty forever-incumbent Paul Kanjorski in the 11th district, could lose their jobs.

Today’s Wall Street Journal covered Democrat gubernatorial candidate Dan Onorato’s decision last month to support “grants” (not vouchers!) for schoolchildren. The paper notes: “Mr. Onorato could also be responding to the public education reality in Pennsylvania. On state tests last year, only 56% of 11th graders scored proficient in math, and 65% in reading.”

The Republican Jewish Coalition is criticizing Chuck Hagel and Joe Sestak for “sharing the same dangerous views on Israel.” Hagel, the former Nebraska senator, endorsed Sestak last month.
