New Poll Shows Titus with Slight Edge in NV-3

Apparently a few points have been won with the more than $1 million that Dina Titus and her union and special-interest friends have poured into pounding Joe Heck with attack ads in NV-3 over the past few weeks. Titus now leads Heck by 47 to 43 percent, according to a new Las Vegas Review Journal/8NewsNow poll.

Titus’ lead is still within the 5-point margin of error in the poll of 400 likely voters, though. She was up by just one point, 43 to 42 percent, in a poll published August 15.

Heck’s unfavorables increased from 16 to 31 percent from the August 15 to this latest poll, indicating the negative attacks are having an effect.

Titus’ favorable rating increased from 42 to 46 percent, while her unfavorable rating decreased from 44 to 41 percent.

The Heck campaign launched his first television ad last week. It remains to be seen whether Titus can hold her small lead now that her barrage of negative ads will be answered by some of Heck’s own.

NV-3 is a bellwether for Republicans who are hoping to turn anti-incumbent sentiment into electoral wins.
