Pa. Early Evening Update

  • Vice President Joe Biden will be coming to Penn State University next Tuesday to rally college voters in State College, Pa., near the geographical center of the Commonwealth. Battle ‘10 will be there.

  • Dan Hirschhorn at Pa2010.com has a round-up of the latest ads that Americans for Job Security are airing. The ads target Democrats Jason Altmire in Western Pennsylvania, and Bryan Lentz, who wants to replace Joe Sestak in Delaware County’s 7th district.

  • Pat Toomey’s lead continues to fluctuate against Joe Sestak, with the latest CNN poll putting him only 5 points up on his Democrat challenger. It’s tough to tell whether this poll is an outlier, or whether others from Rasmussen, Rueters, Quinnipiac, F&M, etc. are too high in their 8-9 point lead average.

  • The Philadelphia Inquirer, Daily News, and Philly.com were sold at auction today for a fraction of what local investors (now bankrupt) paid in 2006 when they purchased it for some $500 million. The new owners could force a shut down if the unions don’t agree to concessions.

  • Politico covers the Fitzpatrick-Murphy poll that we discussed earlier today at Battle ‘10. The poll has challenger Fitzpatrick up some 14 points on blue-dog Murphy. The National Republican Congressional Committee will also begin airing ads shortly, which should help Fitzpatrick consolidate that lead in the final weeks before Election Day.
