Rick Scott’s Lt. Gov. Pick Supported Bill McCollum

Rick Scott rolled out the red carpet this morning to announce his Lieutenant Governor nominee, state Rep. Jennifer Carroll, making campaign stops in Jacksonville, Orlando, and Tampa to tout “the first African American Republican woman to be part of a statewide ticket in Florida.”

Now a new video surfaces via the Crowley Political Report: Carroll didn’t support Scott’s primary run, and she wasn’t very flattering about it.

“It’s already contentious, and people are waffling back and forth on who they’re going to support; I support Bill McCollum,” Carroll told the Republican Party of Clay County. “We do not need that seat to be a seat where you’re learning, to be a seat where it’s for personal gain, to be a seat where the residents and the citizens of the state of Florida will be negatively impacted because of the lack of vision.”

Carroll’s addition to the ticket may help offset some of the issues she voiced — as a state legislator since 2003 and former majority whip, she may help soothe Floridians worried about electing a political neophyte. But there’s no good way for the GOP to spin the rest of Carroll’s statements, which seem like the type of thing that attack-ad writers probably dream about.

The Scott campaign declined to comment on the video.

UPDATE: Predictably, the video appears to have been scrubbed by its user. But we made a copy. This is not the first rodeo for Battle ‘10.
