The latest Rasmussen poll in the Nevada governor’s race has Republican Brian Sandoval up by 53-40 percent over his opponent Rory Reid.
The same pollster earlier this month had the race at 52-39 percent in Sandoval’s favor, and most polls to date have shown Sandoval with a double-digit lead.
Sandoval is favored by 88 percent of Republicans, but only 67 percent of Democrats support Reid, says Rasmussen. Among nonpartisan voters, Sandoval leads by nine points.
Fifty-nine percent of voters have a favorable impression of Sandoval, compared to 43 percent for Rory Reid. Sandoval’s unfavorables are at 38 percent, while Reid’s are 52 percent.
Other results
The poll shows that 18 percent of Nevada voters consider themselves members of the Tea Party movement, while 75 percent does not. Ninety-one percent of voters who classify themselves as Tea Party members support Sandoval vs. 42 percent of non-members.
55 percent of those surveyed disagree with President Obama’s claim that the policies of the federal government have the country heading in the right direction economically. Only 34 percent feel those policies have the country on the right path.
