Tipton Leads Salazar in CO-3 Poll, 51-43

Republican Scott Tipton leads three-term Democratic incumbent Rep. John Salazar, 51 to 43 percent, in a new poll from American Action Forum. Tipton and Salazar face off in a rematch of their 2006 race, that Salazar won handily by 25 points.

The poll showed that fifty-four percent of voters felt that it was “time for someone else,” with 37 percent thinking Salazar deserved to be reelected.

Seventy-one percent of those polled in the district believe the country is headed in the wrong direction. A clear majority (52 percent) of respondents felt that the economy and jobs presented the single most important issue facing the country, while 55 percent opposed the health care reform plan passed earlier in the year (just 36 percent support the plan).

The Cook Political Report’s updated House race projection has moved CO-3 from “Democratic Lean” to “Democratic Toss Up.”
