American Crossroads Ad: ‘Risky Deal’ for Denver Public Schools

News of Sen. Michael Bennet’s “exotic deal” for Denver Public Schools first broke on the eve of the primary, following a report in the New York Times, and was quickly followed by an ad from Bennet’s primary opponent, Andrew Romanoff. American Crossroads has a follow-up to that ad with a new one targeting the same “risky deal” and costly “gamble”:

David Milstead of EdNewsColorado (and formerly of the now-defunct Rocky Mountain News financial pages) has a lengthy rundown of the deal in question, used to support a DPS pension fund “bailout” of sorts, to the tune of $400 million. According to Milstead, there is “reason to worry” about the structure and nature of the pension deal and the school district’s financial outlook.
