Democratic senators including Chuck Schumer and Max Baucus “have been pursuing all fundraising avenues” to help Harry Reid hold down his job, Roll Call reports.
Senate Dems have given a total of more than $379,000 to Reid’s campaign and gave nearly twice that ($712,000) to the Nevada Democratic Party. Schumer and Baucus were responsible for more than $600,000 of the funds given to the state party, and both senators also gave Reid $10,000 through their leadership political action committees.
Dick Durbin’s PAC has given $10,000 to Reid and $5,000 to the Nevada Democratic Party, as well as hosting four major fundraisers for the senate majority leader. He has also stumped in Nevada twice and reportedly lent Reid a campaign staffer who specializes in Hispanic outreach.
Other major contributor-supporters — donating at least $10,000 either to Reid or the state party and going above and beyond the call of duty with personal donations or other fundraising efforts — were Patty Murray (Wash.), Debbie Stabenow (Mich.), Joe Lieberman (ID-Conn.), Dianne Feinstein (Cali.), Jay Rockerfeller (W.Va.) and Tom Carper (Del.).
