Coons Has 19-Point Lead

Among likely voters, Democrat senate candidate Chris Coons leads Republican Christine O’Donnell by 19 points, 57 percent to 38 percent, according to a new CNN/Time poll. Among registered voters, Coons has a 29-point lead, 61 percent to 32 percent.

Asked which candidate “best understands the needs and problems of people like you, Chris Coons or Christine O’Donnell?” (which appears to be a reference to O’Donnell’s “I’m you” theme in two commercials), 54 percent of likely voters chose Coons, while 34 percent chose O’Donnell.

President Obama’s approval and disapproval ratings are both at 47 percent. President Obama and vice president Joe Biden will campaign for Coons this Friday.

O’Donnell and Coons will debate tonight, starting at 7:30 EST on CNN. Battle ’10 will have a report on the debate later tonight.
