Coons Has 21-Point Lead

A new SurveyUSA poll of likely voters shows Democrat senate candidate Chris Coons 21 points ahead of Republican Christine O’Donnell, 54 percent to 33 percent. Nine percent of voters remain undecided.

Among Republicans, 64 percent support O’Donnell, 19 percent support Coons, and 11 percent remain undecided. Democrats are more unified: 81 percent back Coons, 10 percent support O’Donnell, and 6 percent are still undecided. Twelve percent of independent voters are undecided. Thirty-six percent support O’Donnell and 48 percent back Coons.

In two of Delaware’s three counties, Kent and Sussex, Coons is only leading by a few points. But in New Castle county, he is ahead by 32 points, 60 percent to 28 percent.

O’Donnell and Coons are scheduled to debate tonight at 7:30 EST. Battle ’10 will have a report of the debate up later tonight.
