Corbett Stumps, Lays Out ‘Goal’ for Pennsylvania

King of Prussia, Pa. – Tom Corbett, enjoying a healthy lead in most polls, stopped at a local firehouse a few miles outside Philadelphia for a late evening rally. Corbett rallied with Gov. Haley Barbour and Bob McDonnell, of Mississippi and Virginia respectively.

If elected, Corbett would join McDonnell and Barbour as one of as many as 30 or so Republican governors across the nation after the votes as tallied next week.

Corbett, speaking to an audience of more than 100, identified his top priority as making Pennsylvania competitive with other states in terms of its tax, industry, and educational climate.

“The prime reason,” Corbett identified as his reason for running for governor, “is that 25 percent of our children who are born and educated and raised here in Pennsylvania leave to go to another state because there are better opportunities there.”

“And we owe it to them the opportunity to stay here in Pennsylvania,” declared Corbett.

“We do that by making ourselves competitive, competitive with the other states,” Corbett said. “By lowering our taxes, by lowering our costs. By bringing … legal reform to Pennsylvania.”
