Michael Steele drew some smaller, less-heard-from names of Colorado’s GOP as he swung through the state. Embattled gubernatorial candidate Dan Maes made his case for Republican support, dismissing the attacks against him as “desperate” and arguing that only a plurality of votes is needed in the three-way race.
Maes was followed by Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele, who charged up the crowd, telling the Republican activists not to slow down before November 2:

Tom Tancredo’s campaign manager, Bay Buchanan, rejected the arguments made by Maes and Steele:
“Party before principle — party before honest government — that’s what Michael Steele is selling, something Tom Tancredo has rejected his entire public life,” Buchanan said.
“Maes is dead in the water. Tancredo is the only hope for a principled conservative to win this election and the Chairman knows it.”
All three gubernatorial candidates have raised money out-of-state, with Tancredo easily outpacing his rivals in money raised outside of Colorado.
Maes has steadfastly refused to exit the race, and once again said that option is off the table:
