Feingold Defends Obamacare

Most vulnerable Democrats this cycle want nothing to do with Obamacare. Some candidates, like West Virginia Gov. Joe Manchin, have come out in favor of partial appeal.

Sen. Russ Feingold has always sought to portray himself as somewhat of a maverick (he was the only Senator who voted against the Patriot Act), and he certainly makes a bold statement with this new ad, defending his vote for a bill that a majority of Wisconsin voters opposed.

Feingold’s opponent, Ron Johnson, has made no secret of his desire to repeal Obamacare. Recent polls show that Wisconsin voters support this position by a 53 to 38 margin, so it’s hard to imagine this ad doing Feingold any good. Sort of reminiscent of Austin Powers, who, after being dealt a hand of five at the blackjack table, boldly declares “I’ll stay.”
