Joe Heck Campaign: Desperate Dina Finds a New Low

The Joe Heck campaign says Rep. Dina Titus’ “latest smear” ad against her opponent is “a last ditch effort to salvage what’s been a reckless and sloppy campaign” in NV-3.

“Desperate times call for desperate measures, and this ad reeks of a Congresswoman who will stop at nothing to save her own job,” said Mari Nakashima, spokeswoman for Dr. Joe Heck.

“Congresswoman Titus hit a new low when she attacked Joe Heck’s integrity as a medical professional…on an a matter that he cannot talk about due to medical privacy laws,” said Nakashima.

The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) prevents Heck from speaking publicly on the matters referred to by the people in the ad.

However, the Heck campaign did provide refutation of the ad by pointing out that Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department is self insured, does not use any corporate insurance company and pays their claims using taxpayer dollars.

The campaign went on to say that Joe Heck, as the contract medical director for Las Vegas Metro, renders his professional medical analysis and recommendation based on the information provided to him by the Department, but the Department makes all final decisions on claim acceptance or denial.

“Dina Titus’s willingness to attack not only her opponent but the integrity of the men and women of the police force is shameful, arrogant, and inappropriate,” continued Nakashima. “Dina Titus should be ashamed.”
