Keystone Tuesday Mid-Day Update

  • Chris Christie will be in Pennsylvania on Oct. 20th to fundraise for Charlie Dent in the 15th district as campaign season draws to a close. Christie has also campaigned for friend and former colleague Pat Meehan in his race against Bryan Lentz in the 7th district.

  • Robert Sklaroff has a worthwhile ten-part recap of the Mike Fitzpatrick-Pat Murphy debate in Bucks County from last week. It’s in the comment section of this article, for anyone interested in the finer points of a race where incumbent Murphy is trailing by as many as 14 points, according to Franklin & Marshall.

  • Lou Barletta is speaking out on health reform in his bid to unseat Paul Kanjorski in the 11th district. ”Who believes that we could add 35 million (new) people on a health care plan, and it will cost less?” Mr. Barletta asked. “I don’t believe anybody believes that.”

  • A news blackout in Philadelphia has been averted. The Philadelphia Inquirer, Daily News, and Philly.com were all sold to new owners this month after the company went into bankruptcy, and had the printers and distributors unions not agreed to 13 percent cuts, a shut-down just in advance of Election Day could have occurred.
