Murkowski Names Dems as Favorite Senators

Asked what senators she most admired in a debate last night, Sen. Lisa Murkowski mentioned Democrats Tom Carper of Delaware and Jeff Bingaman of New Mexico, The Hill reports.  “The (senators) that immediately come to mind are those that are on the other side of the aisle and I have a good working relationship with,” she said, according to the Anchorage Daily News. She later mentioned Ted Stevens, the Alaska Republican senator who died in a plane crash this August.

Republican senate candidate Joe Miller said in a statement that he found it “unfathomable that Lisa Murkowski would look to the misguided Democrats of Washington, D.C. for leadership.”

“Washington Democrats have moved our nation in the wrong direction. Instead of listening to the American people Democrats have passed massive spending proposals, government run health care, and bailouts that burden our children and grandchildren,” he said.

Murkowski, who lost to Miller in the Republican primary, has said she will caucus with the Republicans if her write-in bid succeeds.
