New Manchin Ad Slams Raese on Health-Care Position

In a new radio ad, Gov. Joe Manchin slams GOP senate candidate John Raese for opposing mandating insurance companies to cover people with pre-existing conditions.

“One out of every four West Virginians under the age of 65 suffers from a pre-existing medical condition,” announces the narrator.

It cuts to a quote of Raese saying that he doesn’t “believe in insurance companies being mandated to handle pre-existing conditions.”

The ad also notes Raese’s affluence, and argues that his disapproval of mandating insurance companies to cover pre-existing conditions means that “John Raese only cares about himself.”

“But what about the rest of us?” the narrator asks.

Manchin, who has come out in favor of partially repealing Obama’s health-care bill (which Manchin, somewhat curiously, has insisted lately on calling Obamacare) did not explicitly mention the bill in the ad. The bill itself is unpopular in West Virginia, with 63 percent favoring repealing the  bill.
