8 Days to the Election
Gubernatorial Race
-
Bill Clinton and Joe Biden are back to stump for Ted Strickland as all the stops get pulled out in the final week. John Kasich continues to sweep newspaper endorsements as Ted Strickland campaigns in both friendly and unfriendly territory. He’s going to need every last breath he has to compete, as neither Bloomberg nor USA Today is bullish about his election chances, despite the latest poll showing the race within the margin of error. Kasich seems confident, but his fight is still tough. He, too, will need everything he has.
House Races
-
The Cleveland Post Dispatch is not optimistic about Republican Tom Ganley’s chances in OH-13. And given that his opponent is racking up endorsements, there’s no reason why they should be.
-
With a week to go in the election, Marcy Kaptur of OH-9 is definitely the presumptive favorite to beat Republican challenger Rich Iott. If news crops up showing this race with a concrete chance of victory for the Republican, I’ll come back. But otherwise, it’s off the list for the next eight days.
-
Zack Space, Democrat of OH-18, is picking up an impressive list of local newspaper endorsements. He’s also saying the right things on Obamacare. And distancing himself from the Democratic leadership, hard. The attacks on him aren’t going to stop, though — according to the Dayton Daily News, Republicans need at least four seats in Ohio, and he’s a promising prospect.
-
Charlie Wilson, Democrat of OH-6, has the Youngstown Vindicator at his back. And a lot of money at both his back and his challenger’s back. Speaking of his challenger, Bill Johnson, the man himself got profiled yesterday.
-
Apparently, liberals love John Boccieri of OH-16. Probably because he’s been stuck on the side of Big Government this election cycle.
