In other words, Ted Strickland has lost to John Kasich for governor of Ohio. This has been quite the race, but in the end it came down to one thing and one thing only — a visionary, if gruff and unapproachable, conviction politician beating a small-minded schoolyard bully who couldn’t stand the thought that someone, somewhere might be smarter, richer, or more accomplished than his base. As the first one-term governor in recent Ohio history, Ted Strickland is set to be Ohio’s Jimmy Carter, and he won’t be stealing anyone else’s lunch money.

Update: Not only did Kasich win, but the Republicans swept every state-level office in Ohio.
