Hansen Backs Cino

Dave Hansen, chairman of the Utah GOP, has endorsed Maria Cino for chair of the Republican National Committee. “[I] had the privilege of serving as a member of the RNC field staff in the ’84 election cycle, during the ’94 and ’96 election cycles and from ’01-’02,” Hansen writes in a statement to the committee. “Those three ‘tours of duty’ gave me the opportunity to witness firsthand the importance of a strong, effective RNC and the difference that can make in elections. I am confident that under Maria’s leadership the RNC will provide the leadership, the programs and the financing to help assure Republican successes in 2012.”

Hansen’s endorsement brings Cino’s total to eleven votes and renders her eligible for the position. Cino needed two thirds of three state delegations to be eligible, which she now has in Delaware, Ohio, and Utah. Read the full statement below.

Dave Hansen, the Chairman of the Utah Republican Party, sent the following statement to his fellow RNC Members today endorsing Maria Cino for RNC Chairman:

“It is my honor to enthusiastically endorse Maria Cino for Chairman of the Republican National Committee.  I have known Maria for nearly 30 years.  During those years I have had the opportunity of working with her on numerous campaign and party projects.  She has the experience, the ability, the underlying Republican philosophy and the drive to know what needs to be done and the tenacity to make sure the job is completed.

“As a state chairman and as a Member of the RNC I understand what the role of the RNC should be.  I have also had the privilege of serving as a member of the RNC field staff in the ‘84 election cycle, during the ‘94 and ’96 election cycles and from ‘01-’02.  Those three “tours of duty” gave me the opportunity to witness firsthand the importance of a strong, effective RNC and the difference that can make in elections.  I am confident that under Maria’s leadership the RNC will provide the leadership, the programs and the financing to help assure Republican successes in 2012.”
