Texas Delegation Agrees To Vote As Bloc in RNC Chairman’s Race

NATIONAL HARBOR, MD — This afternoon, after observing the final debate among RNC Candidates for Chairman, RPT State Chairman Steve Munisteri announced that all three representatives for Texas to the Republican National Committee will vote in a bloc on the first ballot for former Michigan State Republican Chairman Saul Anuzis.

In announcing his decision, Chairman Munisteri stated: “Bill Crocker, Borah Van Dormolen, and I all came to the RNC winter meetings in Maryland, united behind the belief that a change in leadership was necessary. I personally have wrestled with this very tough decision since I had worked in a campaign in which Maria Cino was political director, and thought she had done a fine job. Additionally, Ambassador Ann Wagner had also come highly recommended to me by people I trust. Nevertheless, I felt it important that if at all possible, that Texas stand united and maximize our state’s impact on the national Republican scene.”

Saul Anuzis is a candidate that we are all comfortable with. I am convinced he is a movement, grassroots conservative who has demonstrated exceptional fundraising and organizational abilities as former Chairman of the Michigan Republican Party. Thus, tomorrow on Friday, January 14th, all three of us have committed to vote for Saul Anuzis, when the vote for RNC Chairman is held.”

National Committeman Bill Crocker also stated: “Saul understands that the obligations of the RNC Chairman are to make sure the organization operates well, raise money and control the message of the RNC, in that order of priority. Currently our organization is not running well at all and is disastrously deficient in fundraising. Our message over the last election cycle left much to be desired.

“Saul’s experience as an extremely successful entrepreneur and business operator, and as an equally successful chairman of the Michigan party, gives me great assurance that he can manage a large organization. He has the management skills that we need at the helm of the RNC. I enthusiastically support Saul’s candidacy for the chairmanship of the RNC.”

National Committeewoman Borah Van Dormolen said: “Of prime importance to me is to vote for an RNC chair who best represents the interests of movement, grassroots conservatives in the Texas Republican Party.  After studying the candidates closely, and after receiving feedback from grassroots leadership in Texas, I am convinced that Saul Anuzis will do the best job of representing the interests of Texas Republicans. I am proud to join with our Committeeman Bill Crocker and Chairman Munisteri in presenting a united front for Texas.”
