Union Un-Endorses Walker

During the election cycle, the Wisconsin Law Enforcement Association endorsed Scott Walker.

Now they’ve repudiated that endorsement, despite the fact that none of Walker’s proposed changes would impact the police officer and state troopers the organization represents. (Critics say that Walker exempted them because of the endorsement; Walker has said he exempted them because the state could not afford to risk its public safety officers striking.)

From a statement on the union’s website, made by the executive board president Tracy Fuller:

I specifically regret the endorsement of the Wisconsin Trooper’s Association for Governor Scott Walker. I regret the Governor’s decision to “endorse” the troopers and inspectors of the Wisconsin State Patrol. I regret being the recipient of any of the perceived benefits provided by the Governor’s anointing.
