On the charges that he wasn’t open during the campaign about his union-related policies:
I told it all throughout the campaign. The unions were shocked. Again, it’s kind of revisionist history because they put out flyer after flyer after flyer last fall telling their members, quoting things about collective bargaining, about mediation arbitration, about things from my campaign site and campaign clips along the way, that said don’t vote for this guy, he’s going to do this. So it’s nothing new. You don’t have to agree with me on it. But the bottom line is, I told people what I was going to do.
On the support he has received:
We have up to this point received 19,000 affirming e-mails telling us hang in there, you’re doing the right thing, stay the course, we’re hearing that in the calls and the contacts. Clearly, I’ve been hearing that [from] my colleagues … guys like Chris Christie, Mitch Daniels, Tim Pawlenty, Bob McDonnell.
On the Democratic state senators hiding in Illinois:
We’re certainly not going to go out and arrest people or have them arrested. Again, they don’t work for me, they work for the people in their respective districts, which is why I hope more than anything we can do people in their districts let them know they expect them to do their job.
