It’s interesting to note that the media have shifted their vocabulary for discussing the situation in Libya. For weeks it was described as an “uprising,” or “demonstration,” or “rebellion.” The general expectation was that it would follow the pattern of its neighbors: Egypt and Tunisia. Now, that doesn’t look likely. It seems, and the media have realized, that what we’re actually witnessing is a civil war, which won’t be resolved by Qaddafi willingly stepping down anytime soon.
