Bachmann’s Money Bomb

Did Michele Bachmann’s money bomb fail?

Yesterday, the Tea Party congresswoman sent out an appeal for donations, writing, “My family and I are prayerfully considering what the next 18 months or so may bring. We’ve seen incredible support pouring in; the Team Bachmann momentum is building and very encouraging as we look to our next steps. With your generous support right now, we can continue this momentum and connect with conservatives nationwide.”

She announced a goal of raising $240,000 in 24 hours. But as of this morning, Bachmann’s at $160,000, reports Politico.

When contacted, Bachmann chief of staff Andy Parrish did not dispute the Politico account, but stressed that the Bachmann camp anticipated raising the full amount shortly.

“We are extremely encouraged and humbled by the outpouring of support,” Parrish told National Review Online. “Literally thousands of new supporters and activist joined Team Bachmann yesterday to ensure Barack Obama is a one term President. Today we will extend the deadline for another 24 hours and expect to far exceed our goal of $250,000.”
