Daniels Signs Pro-Life Bill

Mitch Daniels signed into law yesterday a bill which will ban abortions in the state after twenty weeks and that defunds Planned Parenthood of all federal funding that the state government is able to control.

Planned Parenthood president Cecile Richards said in a statement that “Gov. Daniels, who has called for a truce on social issues, would rather play politics with women’s health than show leadership and fiscal responsibility by rejecting a bill that will ultimately cost the state millions in federal funding.”

Family Research Council president Tony Perkins had told NRO that if Daniels didn’t sign the bill, he wouldn’t have “national possibilities of running for president,” while Susan B. Anthony List president Marjorie Dannenfelser said to NRO she expected that “Gov. Daniels understands that there is no truce on doing what is right and fiscally responsible.”
