Highly Unlikely that Bachmann Will Announce in Iowa May 26

Rep. Michele Bachmann is highly unlikely to make an announcement of a presidential run at a May 26th fundraiser in Iowa, a Bachmann aide tells National Review Online.

While The Daily Caller reported yesterday that rumor had it Bachmann would declare then, the aide says, “If I were a betting person, I would say no” about Bachmann making the announcement then.

“She does not have a specific date in mind when she’s going to make that announcement. She’s getting closer to making a decision, but again, that [the May 26th announcement] was just a rumor,” the aide says.

The aide still sees Bachmann announcing a decision in June, saying “in the coming weeks, she’ll arrive at decision.”

Bachmann chief of staff Andy Parrish released this statement in response to the rumors:

Perhaps some of the presidential campaigns are irritated by Rep. Michele Bachmann’s presence in Iowa. That must be why they’ve resorted to the tired old political game of trying to hype expectations by making up stories about her upcoming trip to the Hawkeye State.

The Congresswoman is honored to be the Keynote Speaker at the Polk County GOP’s dinner on May 26th. She’s looking forward to a wonderful night with those in attendance in Des Moines.
