The Shrinking Vice Presidential Field

Florida Republican Rep. Allen West, a Tea Party favorite, appeared to rule out any interest in being chosen to be vice president. “I’m humbled by all of your encouragement to run for higher office,” West tweeted. “However, I am focused solely on winning FL-22 in 2012. This is my path.”

Florida Republican Sen. Marco Rubio also ruled out a vice presidential run this week during an appearance on Meet the Press.

“I don’t want to be vice president of the United States. I want to be a senator,” Rubio said. “I’m not going to be on a ticket in 2012 … under no circumstances.”
