With the Ames Straw Poll coming up in mid-August, Tim Pawlenty’s campaign has decided to amp up their Iowa outreach. “I don’t know that we have to win it, but we’ve got to do reasonably well, one of the top, you know, few finishers,” Pawlenty told Politico yesterday. Today, his campaign announced the launch of the first TV ad in Iowa, entitled “Results, Not Rhetoric.”
“A lot of candidates will come to Iowa and say the same things,” Pawlenty says in the ad. “The question is, have they done it?” The spot then touts his accomplishments on slashing spending, battling government unions, promoting market-based health care, and appointing conservative judges in Minnesota.
