Rep. Thad McCotter has signed the Susan B. Anthony List’s pro-life presidential-leadership pledge.
In a press release, Marjorie Dannenfelser, president of the SBL List, commends McCotter: “His legislative record includes vocal support for the Unborn Child Pain Awareness Act, the Child Interstate Abortion Notification Act, and bills to defund Planned Parenthood and prevent taxpayer funding of abortions. We are honored to have his pledge of continued support.”
McCotter, meanwhile, explains his decision thus: “The culture of death, as enshrined by Roe v. Wade, is a present danger to the weakest in our society. Unless Roe is overturned, the culture of death will continue to fester and endanger Americans. To protect future generations of Americans, we must work in our families and our communities to uphold the sanctity of human life.”
He is the sixth GOP candidate to sign. Other signers include Michele Bachmann, Newt Gingrich, Rick Santorum, Ron Paul, and Tim Pawlenty. Herman Cain, Jon Huntsman, Gary Johnson, and Mitt Romney have so far declined to sign.
