Michele Bachmann told a reporter Sunday night in Iowa that among the reasons why she had been late was that “we had a big family reunion just north of Waterloo [the site of the event Bachmann had been late to].”
But Politico talked to some family members, and discovered that Bachmann did not attend the reunion:
Bachmann’s mother and two cousins told POLITICO’s Emily Schultheis that Bachmann didn’t attend the reunion, though her husband and children did. Her spokeswoman, Alice Stewart, didn’t respond to two emails asking for an explanation of the disparity.
