Mitt Romney will skip attending a forum hosted by Sen. Jim DeMint in South Carolina September 5th, reports CNN. Instead, Romney will campaign in New Hampshire on that day.
Rick Perry, Michele Bachmann, Ron Paul, and Herman Cain have confirmed attendance at the event.
It’s surprising that Romney is snubbing DeMint, who endorsed him in 2008. Furthermore, DeMint — who lead the charge in 2010 to oust less conservative Republicans in primaries –seems willing to endorse Romney again this cycle.
“I endorsed Romney last time, and I think he’s a good candidate,” DeMint told National Review Online in July. “I’m not going to hold any one or two things against a candidate that they’ve done. I’ve had some bum votes in my life.”
