Santorum: Perry’s ‘Treasonous’ Comment Inappropriate

Rick Santorum wasn’t amused by Rick Perry’s comment that Federal Reserve chairman Ben Bernanke’s economic policies were “almost … treasonous.”

“He stepped on it a couple of times already,” Santorum said on CNN last night, referring to Perry’s campaign rollout. “Washington, D.C. is not Austin, and my sense is he’s going to have a pretty good learning curve.”

“His comments about Ben Bernamke – they were completely out of bounds,” said Santorum, adding that he also doesn’t agree with Bernanke’s monetary policies.. “To me, the rhetoric that Rick Perry used was the rhetoric I would expect from a John Conyers, talking about President Bush and saying he should be impeached.”

“We don’t do that,” Santorum added. “We don’t impeach people. We don’t charge people with treason because we disagree with them on public policy.”
