Gregg, Martinez Endorse Romney

Today is a big endorsement day for Mitt Romney: former Sens. Judd Gregg (R., N.H.) and Mel Martinez (R., Fla.) both endorsed him.

“I have great confidence that Mitt Romney is the candidate to get our country back on track,” Martinez said in a statement. “Unemployment remains a pressing issue both in Florida and across the nation. Now more than ever, we need a leader who will get our country’s fiscal house in order. From his experience in the private sector, Mitt Romney understands how the real economy works and how jobs are created. As Governor of Massachusetts, he balanced the budget without raising taxes. I am proud to support him.”

“New Hampshire voters are looking for a candidate who will focus on the economy from day one,” Gregg said in a statement. “Mitt Romney is the only candidate with a record of results in both the private sector and as governor. Whether it was as Governor, during the Olympics, or as a successful businessman, Mitt Romney has shown that he can turn around struggling enterprises. Right now our economy needs a turnaround.”

Rep. Michael Grimm (R., N.Y.) also announced his endorsement for Mitt Romney yesterday. “I think the Republicans have to rally behind the candidate that can win, and you don’t win by holding a purity contest,” Grimm said, according to the Wall Street Journal.
