Christie: GOP Must Fix the Broken Immigration System

On Face The Nation, Governor Chris Christie called for Republicans in Washington D.C. to work to reform the immigration system. Norah O’Donnell, subbing in for Bob Schieffer, asked the recently re-elected governor if Republicans would be able to have a successful November in 2014 without passing immigration reform. Though the interview didn’t specifically touch on the Gang of 8 comprehensive immigration reform bill that has garnered vocal criticism from many conservatives,  Christie emphasized that changing the immigration system was paramount. 

“I hope they do, that’s what they should be doing,” he said. “That’s what people are frustrated by, that there are obvious problems that need to be fixed and that the people in Washington — both parties — are not fixing these problems, nor is the president.”
