Clinton Heckled By Black Lives Matter Protestors

Hillary Clinton was heckled by Black Lives Matter protesters during a speech in Cleveland Thursday morning.

The interruption came as Clinton was talking about gun violence. “I will certainly be happy to meet with you later, but I am going to keep talking,” Clinton reportedly responded.

Clinton previously met with Black Lives Matter activists in New Hampshire, but the meeting grew tense as the activists refused to suggest a policy agenda. “Respectfully, if that is your position, then I will talk only to white people about how we are going to deal with the very real problems,” she replied.

More broadly, Clinton argued that the activists needed a policy agenda to bring about the social change they want. “I don’t believe you change hearts. I believe you change laws, you change allocation of resources, you change the way systems operate,” she said. “You can keep the movement going, which you have started, and through it you may actually change some hearts. But if that’s all that happens, we’ll be back here in ten years having the same conversation.”
