At a campaign stop in Ohio today, Hillary Clinton actually compared Republicans’ so-called “extreme views about women” to those of terrorists.
Yes, really:
“Now, extreme views about women, we expect that from some of the terrorist groups. We expect that from people who don’t want to live in the modern world. But it’s a little hard to take coming from Republicans who want to be the President of the United States. Yet, they espouse out of date and out of touch policies. They are dead wrong for 21st century America. We’re going forward. We’re not going back.”
For the record: The “extreme” Republican views Hillary refers to here are opposition to things like abortion and public funding for Planned Parenthood. Terrorists, on the other hand, believe it is actually okay to rape and murder women. The two hardly seem comparable.
As crazy as this kind of comparison may sound, it seems like it could be becoming a trend. It was just earlier this month that President Obama claimed that the Republicans opposing the Iran deal were making “common cause” with “Iranian hardliners chanting ‘Death to America.’”
Yikes. But conservatives are the ones who use inflammatory, fear-mongering rhetoric, right?
