Liberal Internet: Sexism Is behind Investigation of Hillary Clinton’s E-mails

It's a sexist Republican conspiracy!

According to one liberal blogger, the investigation into Hillary Clinton’s e-mail practices has nothing to do with the fact that she used a private server while Secretary of State and everything to do with the fact that she’s a woman.

According a Daily Kos piece titled “The Email ‘Scandal’ and Sexism,” it is just plain idiotic to think that recent press coverage has absolutely anything to do with the fact that Clinton used her personal e-mail and a private, unsecured server to handle sensitive information:

“Let’s imagine a world in which Hillary Clinton used a .gov email address,” the blogger, who goes by the username “rjpjrca,” wrote. “Are we to honestly believe that there would not have been a fake scandal rigged up by Republicans and their willing accomplices in the media?”

Are we? Well, according to rjpjrca, “anyone familiar with the facts would answer that question with a resounding no.”

#share#Yep — the author believes you’d have to be pretty darn ignorant not to realize that the whole thing is clearly just a sinister Republican/media conspiracy!

There was one thing about the scandal, however, that rjpjrca did consider worth discussing: the fact that “no one seems to be speaking about the sexism that underlies the whole narrative.”

#related#“Since the story broke the press has justified their decision to cover it ad nauseam by claiming that it was newsworthy because it reinforced the narrative that Hillary was not trustworthy . . . a narrative that cannot be divorced from the sexist trope that any woman who seeks a position of prominence or power is some sort of Lady MacBeth figure,” rjpjrca wrote.

Whoa — and here I thought that the investigation was “newsworthy” because it involves a presidential front-runner facing the possibility of federal indictment! How silly of me.
