Analyzing the most recent Republican debate Thursday, the hosts of The View concluded Carly Fiorina is unattractive.
“She looked demented,” said co-host Michelle Collins. “Her mouth did not downturn one time.”
Her face “looked like a Halloween mask,” said co-host Joy Behar.
When another co-host wondered whether “demented” might be too strong, Whoopi Goldberg insisted it was the appropriate word choice.
The hosts’ commentary struck CNN’s Brooke Baldwin as offensive and hypocritical when she responded on CNN Newsroom a few hours later. After noting her affinity for the show – “I think Joy Behar is one of the funniest people on TV” — Baldwin pointed out that these same hosts attacked Donald Trump for doing exactly what they did.
Indeed, they invited Trump on specifically to berate him for an interview he gave to Rolling Stone, in which he asked ”Can you imagine that as face of our next president?”
“Why don’t you talk about her brain, instead of her face?” asked Behar in the clip Baldwin replayed. To which the CNN host added, “Amen.”
