It turns out that tweets threatening to kill all of the black students at Kean University in New Jersey were actually posted by a black activist who had recently graduated from the school.
Kayla-Simone McKelvey, who graduated from the college in may in May, has been charged with third-degree creating a false public alarm, according to an article on NJ.com.
Union County prosecutor Grace H. Park stated that McKelvey left in the middle of an anti-racism student rally in November to go to a campus library computer — where she created a now-suspended anonymous account with the handle “@keanuagainstblk” and began posting the tweets.
“kean university twitter against blacks is for everyone who hates blacks people,” one of the tweets stated.
“i will kill every black male and female at kean university,” stated another.

The prosecutor reported that she then returned to the rally to publicize the tweets. (Nice one, McKelvey.)
#related#The tweets resulted in heightened security measures on campus, as well as the administration giving students permission to not attend classes over the threats.
As sick as it is, this is far from the first time that this kind of thing has happened. It’s disgusting — not only because these students create needless turmoil and suffering on campuses, but also because revelations that reports of racism were hoaxes inevitably make people more inclined not to believe factual ones. Racism is obviously something that still exists and needs to be dealt with, and so-called “activists” like McKelvey are really hindering our progress.
