Redactor-in-Chief Whites Out Orlando Killer’s Islamo-motives

(via Fox News)
The Obama Justice Department’s ridiculous — and dangerous — attempt to hide the truth.

After law-enforcement officials answer the question “Whodunit?” their next query is: “Why?” Understanding a criminal’s motive is critical: figuring it out often helps prevent future mayhem.

Regarding the biggest mass shooting in American history, everyone knows whodunit. Omar Saddique Mateen murdered 49 people and wounded 53 others at Pulse, a gay nightclub in Orlando, two Sundays ago.

As for the why, President Obama cannot handle the truth. Instead, Obama has become the redactor-in-chief. He and his allies have rolled out barrels of Wite-Out to obscure the fact that Mateen was a radical Muslim, and his mass homicide was a self-described act of radical-Islamic carnage in service to ISIS.

Obama’s Justice Department and Attorney General Loretta Lynch got Liquid Paper all over their faces Monday as they tried to hide Mateen’s Islamic-terror ties before they suddenly reversed themselves as rage and ridicule rightly rained down on them.

Abandoning this very clumsy cover-up was a small step in the right direction after a veritable march the other way. Indeed, on Thursday in Orlando Obama himself promised action “whatever the motivations of the killer,” as if Mateen were at all unclear about explaining his bloodshed.

Representative James Clyburn of South Carolina, the House’s third-ranking Democrat, told MSNBC on June 14, “This is not about ISIS. This is not about any kind of terror. This is about guns in America.”

And, astonishingly, Attorney General Lynch announced on NBC’s Meet the Press Sunday that DOJ would release a partial transcript of Mateen’s 911 calls — without any mention of this savage’s objective: radical Islamic terror.

“What we’re not going to do is further proclaim this man’s pledges of allegiance to terrorist groups, and further his propaganda,” Lynch said. “We are not going to hear him make his assertions of allegiance” to ISIS.

Lynch then went full Orwell on Fox News Sunday when she said, “We’re trying to get information out. It’s our goal to be as transparent as possible in this investigation.”

As if.

#share#Monday morning, the Wite-Out began to flow. According to the Washington Free Beacon, the original FBI release of Mateen’s 2:35 a.m. call to 911 said: “I pledge allegiance to [omitted] may God protect him [in Arabic], on behalf of [omitted].”

But just hours later, the DOJ and FBI buckled amid pressure to stop hiding the reasons for this barbarian’s homicidal spree.

The unredacted version read: “I pledge allegiance to Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi may God protect him [in Arabic], on behalf of the Islamic State.”

Justice still is playing games, however. Mateen did not refer to “God.” Rather he referred to “Allah,” the Muslim deity.

In three conversations with hostage negotiators, starting at 2:48 a.m., the FBI says Mateen identified himself as “an Islamic soldier.” He said he had a vest like those that ISIS terrorists “used in France.” Mateen also said, “In the next few days, you’re going to see more of this type of action going on.”

Mateen’s earlier Facebook posts, unrelated to his calls with law-enforcement officers, make his intentions unclear only to those who contradict their own eyes.

“In the next few days you will see attacks from the Islamic state in the USA,” Mateen predicted.

“I pledge my alliance [sic] to abu bakr al Baghdadi,” Matee also posted, referring to the founder and leader of ISIS, “may Allah accept me. . . . The real muslims will never accept the filthy ways of the west . . . ” (Ellipses and lower case in the original.)

All of this makes it beyond obvious to any but the most self-deluded that Omar Saddique Mateen was driven by one thing: militant Islam. To say otherwise gives aid and comfort to America’s enemies in a time of war.

While the DOJ and FBI’s reversal yesterday is slightly encouraging, it comes after a massive deletion of the truth, right in the middle of the town square, at high noon. This was brazen in its audaciousness.

It is highly self-destructive for Obama, Clyburn, Lynch, Hillary Clinton, and many other leftists to pretend that Mateen was not a Muslim extremist, and that the radical Islamic terror attacks in Orlando, San Bernardino, Chattanooga, Fort Hood, and elsewhere somehow involve anti-Hispanic bias, workplace violence, and every matter under the sun — except Islam.

These ongoing lies keep Obama from conceding that his “strategy” against militant Islam and ISIS — it’s a “JV team” — have flopped. As CIA director John Brennan testified last week on Capitol Hill, “Despite our progress against [ISIS] on the battlefield and in the financial realm, our efforts have not reduced the group’s terrorism capability and global reach.” Indeed, Rowan Scarborough of the Washington Times reported Monday that ISIS “has created at least six functioning armies outside its Iraq-Syria base.” Rather than shrinking, Scarborough writes, ISIS “is metastasizing globally by attracting waves of henchmen in Libya, Egypt, Nigeria, Saudi Arabia, Yemen, and Afghanistan.”

#related#More ominously, Obama’s ostrich-like “leadership” model excuses him, and other Democrats from confronting Saudi Arabia about sponsoring radical mosques in America and overseas. If militant Islam is not part of this picture, then why remove Muslim-extremist imams from U.S. prison chaplaincies, where they radicalize inmates? If Muslim extremists have no thirst for blood, then detainees at Guantanamo might as well go home, become management consultants, and prune bonsai trees on weekends.

This picture is quite sweet and dreamy, so long as one packs plenty of Sour Diesel into a hookah and inhales.

The painful reality, of course, is that this seven-and-a-half-year-long cover-up by Obama and his ilk lowers America’s guard, emboldens radical Islamic terrorists, and exposes Americans to even more Muslim-extremist mass murder.
