In Honor of Hillary Clinton, Feminist Jeweler Designs ‘Ideal President’ Necklace of a Woman’s . . . Lower Half

A Los Angeles jeweler who is beloved by Lena Dunham has designed a necklace in honor of Hillary Clinton — and it is literally just a pendant shaped like a woman’s lower body with red, white and blue gems on the vagina.

According to an article in the Hollywood Reporter, the designer, Ali Pohl, created the so-called “Ideal President” necklace as a way to show her support for women in politics.

“The stark contrast between the two candidates’ views on gender equality and women’s rights more generally underscores how far we still need to travel on the road to equality,” Pohl told the Reporter.

“As a woman it’s a major barrier being broken,” she continued. “We have seen women hold the highest position in other countries and it’s nice to see America one step closer to joining them.”

The necklace costs $1,400, and Pohl says she’s donating 10 percent of the sales to Emily’s List, an organization that aims to get more pro-choice women elected.

#related#To be fair, this is not the first vagina necklace that Pohl has created. The “Ideal President” necklace is just one of the models in her “Ideal Woman” series, all of which feature pendants that look like the lower half of a larger-set woman — intended, of course, to inspire female empowerment and body positivity. Lena Dunham, Sophia Bush and Rosario Dawson have all been seen wearing versions of the “Ideal Woman” necklace.

Pohl said she’s hoping to see Hillary Clinton wearing the “Ideal President” necklace at her inauguration. It is not clear from the article what Clinton herself thinks of the design, or if she even knows that it exists.
