NRPLUS MEMBER ARTICLE T elling people to take a deep breath and calm down, as the headline-writer for my latest column advised, does not always achieve its intended effect. I wish Philip Bump had heeded it before reading that column, as it could have protected him and his readers from some errors.
Bump is under the impression that I am dismissing former president Donald Trump’s efforts to undo the results of the 2020 elections as “something of a lark.” He writes that I am keen on minimizing Trump’s threat to democracy because I am sympathetic to “Trump’s House-Republican-driven policy agenda.”
