As noted in the past few Morning Jolts, it will probably be well into Wednesday when we get answers to the big questions, like will the Republicans win control of the Senate. But my home state of Virginia might bring us the first revealing results of the night, where there are three competitive U.S. House races. Anecdotes about turnout in my northern Virginia fairly-deep blue corner indicated the locals were “meh.” With no Senate race on the ballot and gubernatorial and state legislative races held on off-years, the only race on the ballot was for U.S. House. But maybe Democratic-leaning voters are feeling kind of “meh” across the state, because Democratic consultants sound pretty nervous. If Elaine Luria loses to Jen Kiggans, it's a normal GOP wave; if Abigail Spanberger loses to Yesli Vega, it's a sizable wave, and if Jennifer Wexton loses to Hung Cao, it's a tidal wave.
