Now, for the “but” part about U.S. support for Israel, even after noting that Hamas uses the civilian population as human shields and hides under hospitals.

Did Biden just promise that the U.S. will free the Israeli hostages? I thought Israel was taking care of that.

Dan McLaughlin

I believe Biden’s pledge to get Israeli hostages home is the first thing to get Mike Johnson out of his chair to clap.

Biden’s general election strategy seems clear from the structure of this speech: selected appeals to as many segments of the core Democratic base as possible: suburban women, young voters, progressives angry about Israel, etc. It’s not an appeal to the center. It worked for Obama in 2012. I am less certain it will for Joe Biden.

“Stop it, stop it, stop it” is Biden’s detailed proposal for mass shootings.

Less than 1.5 percent of workers make the minimum wage. The largest effects raising the minimum wage would have would be to shut out teenagers from employment, and minimum wage increases disproportionately harm blacks relative to whites.

Jeffrey Blehar

The hecklers are intolerable.
