Today is Election Day. Donald Trump and Kamala Harris are in a historically close battle for the presidency, while Republicans are fighting to defend their majority in the House and Democrats are fighting to defend theirs in the Senate. Gubernatorial and other state and local races, including high-stakes ballot questions on abortion and more, are being decided across the country. Trump is down almost ten percent in New Hampshire, which Fox just called for Harris, and both House districts lopsidedly Democratic so far. But Kelly Ayotte up a bit more than two points in the GOV race,

Trump currently +5 compared to 2020 in Wisconsin’s Dane County, the Blue Anchor of Kamala’s chances in the Dairy State (29 percent reporting)

We’re starting to get a clearer picture of what is happening on the presidential level in Pennsylvania, a state Kamala Harris must win in order to win the presidency. Early returns suggest Harris hit her marks in the early vote, but the GOP is expected to outperform Democrats when the same-day vote is counted (as usual). And given the indications that Harris is just about matching Joe Biden’s performance even before those votes are counted, she and her team have to be sweating bullets.

The Larry Hogan dream is dead, Democrat Angela Alsobrooks wins Maryland Senate.

With Trump looking strong in the Sun Belt (i.e., if he can close out Georgia and North Carolina), the path for Harris narrows and Trump’s widens.

Harris needs to sweep the Blue Wall states of Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, and Michigan.

Trump merely needs to pick off one of those states.

Harris may yet win this thing on the back of small victories in the Midwest, but I think I’d rather be Trump right now.

Bernie Moreno now up by nearly four points with 60% in, but only 35% counted in Cuyahoga, home of Cleveland. Other big blue cities still lagging behind the statewide count.

Ramesh, as of this writing, I think only ten percent of Mecklenburg County, which includes Charlotte, has reported. Biden had a 198,896 vote margin out of that county four years ago. While I think Trump is going to win North Carolina and the overall vote count is looking good for him, it feels at least a little early to call that state.

DecisionDesk has called NC for Trump: first swing state anyone has called, I believe?

Looking at the race broadly here as I write at around 9:20, the results are pretty consistent with the polling averages. Basically, seems that Georgia, North Carolina, and Arizona seem good for Trump and everything will come down to him winning one of Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Wisconsin — which should be tight.

New England has not been fertile territory for Republicans, but New Hampshire will continue to have a Republican governor — Fox News is projecting former senator Kelly Ayotte the winner of the governor’s race over Democrat Joyce Craig.
