Today is Election Day. Donald Trump and Kamala Harris are in a historically close battle for the presidency, while Republicans are fighting to defend their majority in the House and Democrats are fighting to defend theirs in the Senate. Gubernatorial and other state and local races, including high-stakes ballot questions on abortion and more, are being decided across the country. The New York Times median forecast is currently 301 electoral college votes for Trump, 237 for Harris. 89% chance of Trump win.

Waiting on you, Milwaukee. Remember to lock the door on your way out.

Looks like Texas went Allred after all. Oh wait, I mean: All Red.

If Donald Trump pull this out, he will have executed the most remarkable and complete political comeback in American history.

Richard Nixon’s comeback in ’68 and Grover Cleveland’s accomplishment in 1892 will pale in comparison.

Whatever anyone may think of the man, it’s a truly remarkable feat.

And Democrats will have to wait yet another election cycle for Texas to turn blue: AP calls the Senate race for Ted Cruz, after Democrats sink $75 million into trying to defeat him.

A mere… four hours and forty minutes after the polls closed, MSNBC projects Kamala Harris will win Virginia.

Allegheny County, home of Pittsburgh, is almost entirely counted.

In 2020, Joe Biden won it 59-39. Kamala Harris currently leads it 59-40.

In 2022, John Fetterman won it 63-35. Bob Casey currently leads it 59-39.

Trump is treading water there compared to his 2020 performance, but Republican Dave McCormick has significantly improved over Dr. Oz in 2022.

Not surprising but still very noteworthy that Trump carried Miami-Dade, a formerly Democratic stronghold in Florida that hasn’t swung Republican at the presidential level since….1988.

(Pssttt! I wrote about red-trending Miami-Dade county last year! See below.)

With Harris trailing Pennsylvania by 188,000 votes or so, or 3.4 percentage points, with an estimated 79 percent of the vote in, it’s just a shame for Kamala Harris that there just wasn’t any running mate option that could have helped her in the Keystone State.

I agree, Ramesh. Not least because there are five toss-up House seats in California, which will take approximately forever to count.
