Trump explicitly invokes Manifest Destiny, his desire to expand our territory, and his aim to plant our flag on Mars – the last of which produces a visibly giddy reaction from Elon Musk, who is probably the one man in the room with some idea of what that would take.

Not sure what, if anything, can be read into it. But it is interesting for Trump to refer in more general terms to “the hostages in the Middle East” rather than in more specific terms, such as “Israeli and American hostages” or “hostages taken by Hamas.”
Trump transitions out of the part of the speech where he boasts of his love for peace and into the part where he declares of the Panama Canal, “We’re taking it back!”

Trump felt his intention to rename the Gulf of Mexico the “Gulf of America” and changing the name of the mountain from Denali back to Mount McKinley belonged in his inaugural address.
Trump kicks Grover Cleveland one more time by pledging to restore the name of Mount McKinley.
One thing that is apparent is that Trump this time is coming into office with a plan, very much unlike in 2017. Trump being Trump, some of it is not entirely thought through, but the battery of executive orders is much more considered.

It’s not necessarily a groundbreaking piece of political rhetoric — but I have to say that getting to watch Joe Biden and Kamala Harris’s faces while Trump spells out how he’s going to obliterate their legacy is the definition of high comedy.
