“Drill, baby, drill” sounds very nice, and drilling is good. But U.S. oil production is currently at a record high, it increased steadily during Biden’s term, and producers are pretty happy with the price of oil at the moment.
“Sedentary migrants – nobody knows what that is.”
A genuine laugh line from Trump as he runs down the list of government waste.
To @dpino’s point, it takes at least four months for chicks to mature enough to lay eggs. There is no quick fix for eggs, at least not the way Americans have traditionally enjoyed them.
“Drill, baby, drill” – for those with long enough memories – was originally Michael Steele’s line from the Bush-era ’00s. Steele, of course, is now a Democratic commentator (on MSNBC, I believe). A tiny irony.
“What are you going to do to get the price of eggs down?” is basically the same as asking “How are you going to bring 150 million hens that died from avian flu back to life?” That’s an unfair thing to ask, of course, but Trump has in no uncertain terms made the egg price his personal problem. It’ll probably come down soon as the industry gets back on its feet, which Trump will take credit for, though it will have little to do with anything he does or says.
Trump is talking about working hard to lower prices on the same day he enacted reckless tariff policies that, if they remain in place, will lead to much higher prices for consumers on many items.
Here we go. A handful of Democratic members just stood up and turned around to show off their “RESIST” shirts. A few Democrats just walked out of the chamber, including Melanie Stansbury and Maxwell Frost.
Trump talks about the nightmare of Biden’s inflationary regime, the increases of the cost of living etc. Will be interesting to see if he even bothers to square that rhetoric with his tariff regime.
39 minutes in, Trump gets to the economy – “Make America Affordable Again.” His presidency hangs on the success of this.
“Our country will be woke no longer,” Trump commands as he goes on to threaten federal funding cessation for any schools allowing men on women’s teams or discriminating on basis of race.
