Persuading the low-propensity center-right could help the GOP edge out pro-illegal-alien Dems.
I f the broad center-right goes to the polls — MAGA supporters, traditional Republicans, conservative-leaning independents, and thinking Democrats — the GOP has a fighting chance to disprove the experts, win skintight races, and even keep Congress. This is a challenge, but within reach.
According to a September 28–October 12 NBC News Decision Desk survey of 17,649 registered voters, Democrats lead on the generic ballot by twelve points among those who say they definitely will vote. Republicans enjoy a 16-point edge with respondents who probably will vote and are 22 points ahead with those who just say “No” to voting this time.
While this sounds like curtains for the GOP, it confirms enormous potential — if Republican candidates, officials, and activists can energize these individuals and steer them into the voting booths.
“Believe it or not, some folks who say ‘No’ in a poll do end up voting,” NBC News analyst Steve Kornacki said recently on Meet the Press. “The Republicans have the advantage with those who are not sure they’re going to be voting right now. So, the more Republicans succeed in expanding the electorate there, they might be able to bring that generic ballot down some.”
Conservative leaders must spend every moment between now and Election Night transforming this untapped GOP resource into actual votes.
Here is one way: Remind Americans about Democrats’ ugliest display of 2026.
President Trump delivered his most recent State of the Union Address on February 24. At 10:04 p.m. he said: “Tonight I am inviting every legislator to join with my administration in reaffirming a fundamental principle.”
The president then made a simple request of everyone in the House chamber: “If you agree with this statement, then stand up and show your support: ‘The first duty of the American government is to protect American citizens, not illegal aliens.’”
As this Grabien clip of C-SPAN’s coverage demonstrates, Republicans jumped to their feet, loudly cheered, and universally applauded for one minute and 50 seconds. GOP lawmakers and Trump’s cabinet secretaries and top aides vividly embraced a proposition that America’s public servants should endorse unanimously.
But unlike Republicans, Democrats could not rise even to this basic occasion. In stark contrast, Democrat senators and House members sat and pouted. For nearly two minutes, they fumed, frowned, and failed to applaud. Instead of standing up for countrymen over foreign trespassers, they stayed seated.
The urgency of guarding U.S. citizens and preserving America’s heritage became painfully vivid last Wednesday night. That was when police say they caught Mexican illegal alien Miguel Alonso Maldonado Soriano using a sledgehammer to decapitate a World War II hero portrayed in a statue honoring Iwo Jima’s war dead, in Quantico, Va.
That severed limestone head depicted Corporal Harlon Block, 20, one of six Marines who raised the Stars and Stripes above Mount Suribachi on February 23, 1945. Earlier, during a 30-day furlough, Block told friends in Weslaco, Texas: “I don’t think I’ll be coming back.” True enough, Japanese mortar fire killed him that March 1. Ironically, before enlisting in the USMC, Block was expelled from his private high school — he had refused to rat out a fellow student who committed vandalism. (The Marine Corps Heritage Foundation seeks donations to repair this destruction.)
With the midterms next Tuesday, the choice for center-right voters could not be clearer: Do you want Republicans to hold the House and Senate or hand Congress, its checkbook, and its committees to the same Democrats who sat to honor illegal aliens rather than stand for American citizens?
To those who already cast their ballots or will do so through Election Day, please urge your clearheaded family members, friends, neighbors, and associates to do likewise.
To those who still plan to stay home, please heed the advice of that great American statesman, James Brown. As he sang in 1971: “Get Up, Get Into It, Get Involved.”
